Golf Tips

Now that the season has pretty much wound down it is an excellent time to evaluate your performance in 2007.

  • Did you reach some of the goals you had for 2007?
  • Did you get a chance to play and practice enough?
  • How was your short game?
  • Did your driving hold you back?
  • Did your scores overall improve?
  • What area of your game can you cut the most strokes off your score?

These are just a few of the questions you can ask yourself as you might put the clubs away for a little while. Evaluating your game can give you a solid plan of where you can improve the most for 2008.

I always feel a few weeks away from the game is refreshing but remember the after spending some quality time with your family over the holidays, the off-season can be an excellent time to get yourself ready for the upcoming season.

Setting realistic goals and objectives for next year that include amount of times to play each week, amount of time to practice as well. Try and document these sessions to be able to hold yourself a little more accountable while establishing a higher level of commitment. There are also some great golf specific fitness exercises and stretches available to help you make a great turn and get that extra 10 yards off the tee next year.

Also, don’t feel that golf can only be played outdoors either, the Buffalo Grove Golf Dome on route 83 is a great way to stay active during the Winter and maybe even get a head start on 2008 with a lesson or two

Whatever your golf goals may be, we at the Arlington Heights Park District Golf Facilities wish you the very happiest of Holiday Seasons and look forward to the opportunity to help you achieve your goals for 2008.
