At Nickol Knoll and the Arlington Heights Park District we take special pride in offering kids an opportunity to learn and play this great game of golf in a fun and safe environment.
Children have many choices for sports and extracurricular activities these days, but few can teach them about integrity and lifelong lessons of golf. At Nickol Knoll Golf Club we realize this and offer many different playing opportunities and instruction.
Youth Golf Lessons
Youth group golf lessons are intended for kid's ages 8-17 years of age and will be offered on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays for two weeks beginning June 18-June 29.
The six one hour classes are designed to introduce children to golf and will be offered for $45 to resident juniors and $50 to nonresident juniors. Each student receives a golf visor from Titleist and instruction on golf rules, etiquette. Full swing fundamentals, chipping and putting techniques. Sign up for this popular program begins in May during summer registration. Most of the sessions take place at the Sunset Meadows driving range on the corner of Kirchoff and New Wilke Road in Arlington Heights.
Have an aspiring young golfer looking for a little extra attention with his or her swing? Some private instruction with our staff of PGA Professional might be what you need. $40 for a half hour session can be scheduled by calling 847-577-3030.
Junior Golf Associations
The junior golf association at Nickol Knoll Golf Club is intended for kids ages 8-12. This division is intended for juniors in their first year or two of golf or who have limited playing experience. Emphasis is on enjoyment, sportsmanship and golf etiquette. Parents are encouraged to walk the course at least one of the seven weeks. Weekly green fees are included in the class cost. This is not a lesson program. It is focused on junior golf and for parents to see how much enjoyment their children get from the sport. The association meets on Thursday mornings beginning June 14th for 8 weeks. The cost is $56 for residents and $63 for nonresidents. Registration can be done at the Arlington Heights Park District Administration office or online at www.ahpd.org.
Junior Golf League
For Junior Boys and Girls ages 12-15 who have played some limited golf this association is for them. Emphasis is on enjoyment, sportsmanship and golf etiquette. Weekly green fees are included in the cost of the program. This is not a lesson program. Golfers are monitored by Nickol Knoll seasonal staff. Cost is $42 for residents and $50 for nonresidents and meets for six weeks on Wednesdays beginning June 20th and excluding the Fourth of July. Registration can be done at the Arlington Heights Park District Administration office or online at www.ahpd.org.
We will also be forming a Junior Golf Travel team. This team will compete against other area teams in a semi competitive league format while visiting other area course. This will be a great experience for the junior golfer looking for a little more advanced competition. More information on tryouts, format and costs coming soon.
