Lifeguards showcased their skills at the 22nd Annual Arlington Heights Park District Lifeguard Competition Saturday, July 24 at Olympic Indoor Swim Center.

Whipper Snapper Youth Triathlon

Run, swim and bike your way through this fun and action packed event held in spring. Children age 6-13 are encouraged to sign up and compete in this one day event. Swimming is indoors at Olympic and the bike and run is outside in the surrounding neighborhood. 6 to 9-year-olds complete a 50 yard swim, a 2 mile bike, and a 1 mile run. 10 to 13-year-olds complete in a 100 yard swim, 3 mile bike, and a 1.5 mile run. A timing system is used to accurately determine the final times.

Olympic Indoor Swim Center has three pools. The Family Activity Pool, the Lap Pool and the Dive Well. There are times in the schedule when only portions of the facility are open to the public due to programs, swim lessons and swim teams.

• Family Activity Pool from zero depth to 3'6" deep, featuring floor geysers, a small tot slide, a bubble bench, water play features and a 10' high 50' long water slide.
• The lap pool is 6 lane 25 yard lap pool, from 3'5" to 5' deep.
• 12' deep diving well with 2 one-meter (low dive) diving boards, a drop slide and walk-out stairs.
• A party room is adjacent to the Family Activity Pool.
• A unisex sauna on the pool deck. Adults only will be allowed in the sauna.
• Four new family changing rooms have been added from family's convenience. These rooms are great for parents with small children and seniors.
• The men's and women's locker rooms have new lockers and tile floors.
• The lower level is now accessible by a passenger elevator.
• The entire facility is heated and air conditioned for comfort during winter and summer.
• Pop vending machines.

Olympic Indoor Swim Center Pool Closing Policy

The following conditions may warrant closing of the pools at Olympic Indoor Swim Center:

• Severe weather-Olympic will be closed if severe weather is imminent. Staff will always proceed with caution for participant and staff safety.
• Fecal accidents-staff will follow rules established by the State of Illinois when determining how long the pool needs to be closed after a fecal or vomit accident.
• Mechanical problems.

Olympic Indoor Swim Center is located at the corner of Euclid Av and Ridge Av. Turn north on Ridge Av and make a left into the parking lot.

Olympic Indoor Swim Center is less than six blocks west of Arlington Heights Road by taking Euclid.

Olympic Indoor Swim Center is about 2 miles east of Route 53 and the Euclid East exit.
