Environment & Conservation

Our environmental/conservation page is provided to inform the residents and participants of Arlington Heights Park District programs and parks to what the district is doing to help promote sound policies, procedures, and practices to work being done in the parks and facilities. We want to help everyone by providing tips and answers to FAQ's about issues that concern just about everyone.

The Arlington Heights Park District and the Parks and Planning Department are keepers of the parks for future generations. Our goal is to hand over to future generations the parks in a better condition than we were handed.

Rust on your shoes while walking on the lawn?
Read the article by Don Scott, Extension Plant Pathologist from Purdue University about a common turf fungus called Rust. It's orangish powdery and appears when the weather is dry and grass is growing slowly and not mowed as frequently. July and August are the months when we see it in Illinois.
