Marketing and Communication Internship Opportunities
Program Description
The Arlington Heights Park District offers internships for university students majoring in Marketing, Communication and Business. This program is designed to provide the intern with first hand knowledge and understanding of public recreation agencies and the structure and forces that affect them in regards to the Marketing operation. Students will be provided the opportunity to integrate and apply knowledge, theory and understanding from the academic setting to the "real world" working environment.
Marketing and Communications Internship General Description
- Reports to the Superintendent of Marketing and Communications
- 20 hours/week
Major Function
Under the direction of the Superintendent of Marketing and Communications the Marketing Intern assists with overall marketing and communication operations at the Arlington Heights Park District.
Responsibilities
- Implements strategies to achieve stated agency marketing objectives.
- Assists in completion of specific tactics of the marketing plan including advertising, public relations, programs, special events, etc. with the highest quality standards, creativity, accuracy and effectiveness.
- Assists with creation, production and delivery of the quarterly program guide.
- Assists with sponsorship/partnership development.
- Attends and provide support at various special events and functions.
- Attends meetings and work functions when necessary.
- Prepares communication pieces including flyers, memos, etc and distributes.
- Provides administrative support where needed.
- Conducts/compiles market research.
- Creates/Updates media contacts and lists.
- Handles Oaklee's Guide submissions/Northwest.
- Exports events for calendar listings/press releases for entire season.
- Assists in completion of with Media Relations Report.

- Must be proficient on basic Microsoft Office platform/Internet
- Must be flexible and able to work hours, which may include nights, weekends and holidays
- Must work cooperatively with the general public and all levels of organizational staff
