Park District Residents
To qualify for resident fees, an individual must reside within the boundaries of the Arlington Heights Park District. The Recreation Department may waive the residency requirement for a program if it is considered in the best interest of the Park District.
The Benefits of Being a Park District Resident
The Arlington Heights Park District has cooperative agreements with neighboring districts. See the Intergovernmental Agreements between Arlington Heights Park District and other park districts.
Not all Arlington Heights Residents are in the Park District
The program guide is delivered to Park District residents. There are several areas in the Village that are not within Park District boundaries. Some of these areas are:
- Arbor Lakes Apartments
- Any street west of Wilke Road
- Briarwood Lake
- Carriageway Drive
- Central Park East Apartments
- Courts of Russetwood
- Dale Avenue between Gregory and Kensington
- Dana Point Condominiums
- Daniels Court
- Donald Avenue between Grove and Kensington
- Evanston Avenue between Gregory and Kensington
- Happfield Drive
- Rammer Avenue between Grove and Kensington
- Regent Park
If you live in these areas, please use the non-resident information when registering for classes. For additional information on which Park District you belong to, please consult your tax bill.
Non-Residents
Because residents contribute to the overall financing of the Park District with their property taxes, they pay a lower fee for classes. Non-residents may register for recreation programs; however residents receive admission priority to all programs. The non-resident rate is listed under the program description as the second fee indicated as "NR".
Age Requirement
When a class lists a minimum age, your child must be that age when the program begins. Contact the class supervisor if you have any questions.
Classes on Religious Holidays
Within a program session, classes may fall on a day that residents honor as a religious holiday. In an effort to be sensitive to all religions, class participants may:
- Make up the class missed, if space exists or
- Have the fee pro-rated to reflect the day that must be missed.
Your program supervisor will be happy to assist you with either option.
Registration
Resident registration enables Arlington Heights Park District residents to register for Park District classes. Online registration is convenient and eliminates long lines, longer waiting, and frustration. Non-residents mailing in their registration forms during early registration will be placed on a wait list until non-resident registration begins. At that time, they will be accepted into any classes with openings. To qualify for resident fees, an individual must reside within the boundaries of the Arlington Heights Park District.
When to Register
The Program Guide is delivered at least one week before registration.

Complete a registration form and drop it off at your local Park District office during office hours or place it in the drop-off box located on the north side of the Administration Center, 410 N. Arlington Heights Rd. that is available 24 hours a day. Camelot, Frontier, Heritage, Pioneer, and Recreation Community Centers have drop-off slots available when the buildings are open.
Complete the registration form and fax it 847-506-2735.

It is not advised to wait until this time unless you are a non-resident. At this point, all registrations have been processed. Many classes may be full.
- Bring your completed registration form to your local Community Center (Monday-Friday, 1-5 pm or Saturday, 9 am-12 pm) or to the Arlington Heights Park District Administration Center (Monday-Friday, 9 am-5 pm).
- Check the closed or cancelled lists available at the offices or find the link online on the Program Guide page.
- When you register during in-person time, you will receive a receipt stating what you have registered for; you will not receive a confirmation postcard.
- Non-resident registration received before the first day of non-resident registration will be held and entered on the appropriate day.
Waiver Required
For insurance purposes, Park District programs and activities require a signed waiver. Please sign the waiver section on the registration form. Patrons will not be able to participate in classes or programs if the waiver is not signed. Refunds cannot be given for failure to sign the waiver. If registering online, you may read and accept the waiver online. The online waiver will be valid for one full year.
Cancellation Policy
If your class is cancelled, you will be notified and offered an alternate choice, if one is available. Classes may be cancelled due to low enrollment or instructor availability. The Park District occasionally must cancel, postpone, combine classes or change instructors as needed.
Have You Moved or Changed Your Phone Number?
If you have moved or changed your phone number since your last registration, please notify the Park District with your updated information. Please send us a change of address card from the post office. We will need your old address and the new address to update our computer information. It is very important that our records are updated so confirmation post cards and any refunds you may apply for are mailed to the most current address. This is especially important for registration online. Please change this information in your online profile.
Notes to Remember
Most programs have a minimum and maximum number of people who can register. The minimum is the smallest number feasible to run the class; the maximum is the most people a program can accommodate. If the class you register for reaches the maximum or is cancelled, listing an alternate choice is beneficial. You will be transferred to your alternate choice. If your first choice and alternate are not available, you will placed on a wait list for your first choice.
Because of the volume of registrations received during the first week of mail-in registration, information regarding your status in the class cannot be determined until the end of the first week of registration. Confirmation postcards will be mailed the week after registration begins. If you do not receive a postcard two weeks after mailing your registration, please call the park where the class is held.
All registrations will be randomly processed throughout the Park District daily beginning the first day of registration.
There is a $20 processing fee for all returned checks.
Scholarships
The Arlington Heights Park District recognizes the need to provide leisure activities for the entire community. To do that, the Park District has set up a Scholarship Program to subsidize the payment of fees for those unable to afford the full fee. For more information regarding the Scholarship Program, call 847-577-3009.
Assistance
Park District staff and program instructors are not capable of providing bathroom assistance to those individuals who cannot care for themselves. It is the participant’s responsibility to make his/her own arrangements prior to registering for any programs or activities, if they require this type of assistance. Please contact park staff for further information or clarification.
Photo Policy
Photos and videos are periodically taken of people participating in Park District program and activities. All persons registering for Park District programs/activities, or using Park District property thereby agrees that any photograph or videotape taken by the Park District may be used by the Park District for promotional purposes including its electronic media, videotapes, brochures, flyers and other publications without additional, prior notice or permission and without compensation to the participant.

Waiting List
The Arlington Heights Park District recognizes that you/your child might be disappointed about not getting into a program. We encourage you to please register to be added onto our waiting lists. We will work with our program supervisors to add new class sections based on our waiting list sizes. Wait list enrollees are slotted into new classes on a first come first serve basis. Your chances of getting into a class are much better than you think, but you first need to be on a wait list.
