10 and Under Quick Start

Quick Start Tennis

The youngest players are able to learn and succeed as the game of tennis is paced to their playing abilities. A standard yellow tennis ball moves too fast, bounces too high and is too heavy for their smaller racquet. With 10 and Under Tennis, each age group uses a tennis ball better suited to its size and unique playing ability. At Heritage Tennis Club, we use modified fun-sized courts, nets, racquets, and balls.  See below for more information about age groups, equipment and more!

Red (4-8 years)

Ball

75% slower than a yellow ball

Racquet

19"- 21"

Court

Net Height: 2' 9"

Scoring - Quick Start Red is best of 3 games. Servers alternate every two points, and each game consists of the first person to win 7 points.

Description - Equipment for Quick Start Red is for a 36 foot long court. The low compression red ball is 15% larger than a real tennis ball and is much lighter.  Quick Start Red balls bounce at a slower rate, allowing participants to move to the ball and hit between their knees and waist.

Orange (8-10 years)

Ball

50% slower than a yellow ball

Racquet

23"- 25"

Court

Net Height: 3' middle 3' 6" on sides

School Days Off

Quick Start tennis introduces kids to the game of tennis using a new format perfectly sized to children 10 and younger. Kids will learn and have fun using balls that bounce lower which prevents them from moving too fast and making them easier to hit. Within the hour kids will be developing optimal swing patterns, rallying and playing real tennis all while having fun with friends. $25 fee is per day. Register in-person at the Heritage Tennis Club.
