Pool patrons can rest assured that all Arlington Heights Park District deep water and swimming pools are in compliance with the Virginia Graeme Baker Pool and Spa Safety Act.

Additionally, the deep water and swimming pools are not subject to the recent drain cover recall issued recently by the Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC).

As District officials reported recently however, upon reviewing the May 26, 2011 CPSC recall notice Release 11-230 for Swimming Pool Drain Covers, it was determined that all five of the outdoor wading pools ARE being affected by the recall and will be closed until further notice. Wading pools at Camelot, Heritage, Frontier, Pioneer and Recreation Park’s are closed until Park District staff has acquired compliant replacement covers and has replaced them as soon as they become available.

Further information on the drain cover recall is available on the CPSC website at www.cpsc.gov or you may call their Drain Cover Recall Hotline at 866-478-3521.

You may also contact Brian Huckstadt, Director of Park and Planning, Arlington Heights Park District at 847-506-7145 for more information about the wading pool closings.
