Teamwork, dedication and perseverance paved the way
Arlington Heights, IL - Aces Soccer is proud to announce that the Girls U14 Arlington Aces Tempest finished the 2014-2015 season ranked 6th in the state of Illinois.
Their overall record for the spring season consisted of 14 wins, 1 loss, and 8 ties. Coach Darren Llewelyn led his team through a grueling schedule, where the girls played against some of the toughest teams Illinois had to offer.
The key to success, says Coach Llewelyn, "is teamwork, dedication, and perseverance to pave the way for a memorable season". Llewelyn has been an Aces coach for the since 2011 and has also achieved success coaching the Boys and Girls Varsity Soccer Teams at John Hersey High School. Llewelyn went on to describe his team saying, "I was most proud of their (Aces) unbroken discipline against these higher level teams who were oftentimes more technical or athletic than we were. But the girls didn't flinch when playing teams considered "better" than them or known to be at the top of the Midwest tier. It has been great to see this team slowly building its way up the tiers to the point where they can compete with the premier teams in Illinois and other Midwestern states."
The Arlington Aces Tempest went undefeated in the Illinois Youth Soccer Association Premiership, Illinois Youth Soccer Association State Cup, and Midwest Regional League.
A breakdown of their spring season record:
Rockford Puma Cup - 2-1-1 (2nd Place)
MRL First Division - 5-0-2
IYSA Premiership - 4-0-3
IYSA State Cup - 3-0-2
This accomplishment ranks as highest ranking finish for the Arlington Aces this decade. The Girls will retake the field this fall as the U15 Arlington Aces Tempest. Llewelyn is excited for the fall commenting, "I don't think the girls will skip a beat, but will continue to play at their highest level and focus their energy on executing and playing the best they can."
