The Arlington Heights Park District (AHPD) announced today that it has received the distinction of being named an Illinois Accredited Distinguished Agency, the highest accreditation possible for a park and recreation organization. This accreditation is reserved for those agencies reflecting exemplary achievements and/or special facilities.

"It is important to the Arlington Heights Park District to meet the highest standards in the industry to exceed the needs of the community and residents, said Steve Scholten, Executive Director. This accreditation acknowledges the high caliber of professionalism of the District’s staff and we are very proud of them all."

To achieve this accreditation the Arlington Heights Park District was ranked on recreation services, records and information provided by the District through a voluntary evaluation by the Joint Distinguished Park and Recreation Agency Accreditation Committee (JDPRAAC). Having earned scores far exceeding the required scores for passing the standards review, the JDPRAAC team unanimously recommended Accreditation status for the Arlington Heights Park District. The Joint Distinguished Park and Recreation Agency Accreditation Committee is part of the Illinois Association of Park Districts whose mission is to provide "outstanding park and recreation opportunities, preserve natural resources and improve the quality of life for all people in Illinois."

Arlington Heights Park District was assessed on specific classifications; agency effectiveness, quality of life for community, educating and encouraging staff teamwork and Board elected officials are effective and efficient guardians of the public interest in parks and recreation. To name a few of the areas where AHPD scored above recognition was in; Authority for Coordinating Public Relations, Comprehensive Board Policy Manual, Facility Development Planning and Information Reporting.
