ARLINGTON HEIGHTS, ILLINOIS (September 15, 2014) - One of the Arlington Heights Park District’s most popular recreation facilities, located at 1005 E. Suffield, is reopening after a year-long renovation and expansion funded in part by a $2.5 million Illinois Department of Natural Resources grant.
Renovations included the construction of a new 18,522 sf. addition along the south elevation which houses an indoor elevated track nestled atop a new full-size gymnasium.
The Arlington Heights Park District has made an investment in this facility to improve upon its guest experience and to respond to resident needs and input. Extensive interior renovations on all aspects of the venue were made to serve everyone from preschool youth and athletes, to fitness and cultural arts participants, to birthday party and private rental customers.
All events and programs—big or small—will feel the effects of the updated space. The park district will be hosting A Camelot FAIRE on Saturday, October 11th from 10am – 12:30pm to showcase its new look and the whole community is invited to attend.
The Camelot Community Center was originally established in 1969 and offers a variety of recreation programs, special events, a preschool, an outdoor pool, a full-size gymnasium and an indoor track. The new Camelot building including the aquatic center area now measures approximately 28,955 square feet.
