The Arlington Heights Park District’s Muskie Swim Team won the Northern Illinois Swim Conference ‘A’ Division Championship, on Saturday, March 5, 2011. The Northern Illinois Swim Conference took place this year in Zion IL, and is a recreational conference for youth through 18 years of age. The emphasis of the Conference is placed on learning competitive skills, enjoyment of the sport, and lifelong participation in swimming. There are two divisions of the Northern Illinois Swim Conference that include ‘A’ and ‘B’ conference. The ‘A’ Division is defined by the fastest teams in conference. The teams who participated in the ‘A’ division were Zion, McHenry, Mount Prospect and Buffalo Grove.
The Muskie Swim Team is made up of 6-18 year old swimmers who enjoy competitive swimming while having fun and staying fit with friends. Swimmers and coaches worked hard throughout the season accomplishing team and personal achievements including eight wins in ten meets with 98 swimmers achieving top times based on USA Swimming timing standards. The Muskies will be celebrating their victorious season at the Arlington Muskie Awards banquet on April 3, 2011 at the Olympic Swim Center. The team will be commemorated on their success and dedication. Congratulations to the Muskie Swim Team.
