What will be offered, and for who?

Phase 4, per the Restore Illinois plan allows us to offer more opportunities for Park District residents at ARC with some restrictions.

  • The fitness center will be available, limit 30 people per time slot, age 14 and up.

  • Lap swimming will be available, limit 18 people per time slot, age 9 and up. Our intent is that there is space for 12 in the lap pool, 2 per lane, and 6 in the dive well.

  • The warm water wellness pool will be available for water walking, limit 6 people per time slot, age 18 and up.

  • Pickle ball will be available, limit 12 people per time slot, 18 and up, and family options.

  • We will be offering variety of land and water exercise classes.  Group limits will depend on the location; ages vary depending on the class.  Current Exercise Schedule

The facility schedules will be released every week, two weeks in advance.  We are doing that so that we may adapt and adjust to changing guidelines.

There is no drop in use allowed.  Child care will remain closed.  Gyms are closed for sports.  The gym space will be used for fitness, pickle ball, and registration only activities.  The family activity pool will remain closed.  All of our guest furniture has been removed.  Vending machines are out of service.

Locker rooms are open, but we have to space locker and shower use out to every 6 ft.  You will see signs indicating what is open and what is closed.  It is recommended that patrons come to the facility dressed and ready to participate, and shower at home, when possible.  In each locker room there are only 4 lockers available.  The rest have been secured closed and marked as closed.

What is going to be different? What can I expect?

In the fitness center we have spaced out all the equipment 10ft apart.  There are some items that are being taken out of service.  Jacobs Ladders, the wall Queenax unit, two stationary bikes, and a few movable benches have been taken out of service.  Three elliptical machines have been moved to areas in the hallway and landing.  The landing by the stairs and track has several pieces of equipment that have also been relocated from the fitness center.

In the lap pool we will only be able to accommodate 18 lap swimmers an hour. Our intent is that there is space for 12 in the lap pool, 2 per lane, and 6 in the dive well.  The sauna will remain closed.  The wellness pool can accommodate 6 swimmers per hour.

Access to the indoor track is limited to those that have reserved a time slot in the fitness center.

There will be two pickleball courts available.  We can have 4 players at a time, and that would leave 4 waiting.  You have to bring your own racquet and your own specially marked ball.  You can only touch your own specially marked ball.

Locker rooms are open, but we have to space locker and shower use out to every 6 ft.  You will see signs indicating what is open and what is closed.  It is recommended that patrons come to the facility dressed and ready to participate, and shower at home, when possible.

The small daily use hallway lockers are closed off.  Vending is also not available.

Will I be able to buy a pass or use the pass I have already purchased?

All current ARC PlusPass and SplashPass memberships will remain frozen.  We recognize that not all members will want to return this summer.

To accommodate those that do, we will have a special Summer 2020 “All-In" Pass or a daily use punch card option. The Summer 2020 “All-In" Pass will be a monthly fee.  The punch pass will be pay-as-you-go.  There will be NO daily admissions accepted at ARC at this time.

Both the pass and the punch card will allow you to lap swim, walk in the wellness pool, use the fitness center at ARC, take a land or water exercise class, and play pickle ball.  The passes and cards are also good for outdoor swimming at Camelot, Pioneer, or Recreation.

Summer 2020“All-In" Pass monthly fee

  • Individual $35/month

  • Couple $50/month

  • Family $60/month

Passes will be prorated based on the day of registration and the effective start date of July 6.

Punch Card

  • 2 Punches $10

  • 4 Punches $20

  • 6 Punches $30

  • Punch cards cannot be shared by multiple people.

  • Punches are assigned to an individual on their individual membership card.  This will help ensure that we can trace who has used the facility when per the State’s guidelines.

  • Punch cards cannot be renewed until all current punches have been used.

  • There will be no refunds issued for unused punches.  Unused punches can be redeemed for ARC guest passes when we return to normal operations.  You will have 30 days once we return to normal operations to redeem them for guest passes.

What will we do to recognize the lost value for the annual and monthly members?

When we return to Phase 5 and open at 100% capacity we will review annual member's expiration dates and extend accordingly based on the total length of closure beginning March 13, 2020.  For our monthly members we know that we have to recognize the value of the lost time from the month of March 2020.  For the remainder of Phase 4 all ARC memberships will remain frozen.

How can I buy the pass or punch card?

Both can be purchased online at www.ahpd.org.  You must be a Park District resident to purchase one.  Both are considered memberships and can be found by clicking on the “Register Now” button and then selecting memberships on the top tab bar.  From there you can select the best option for you.  Admission will only be allowed with an updated membership card that has your name and picture on it.  These are the same cards we began using in January at ARC.  If you already have one from ARC, your punch purchases are automatically added to it.

From now through July 3, updated cards can be obtained at ARC, Monday – Thursday, 8:30 am to 7 pm, Friday 8:30 am to 4:30 pm, Saturday 9 am to noon.

How will admission to ARC be handled?

There are limits to how many people we can have in a space; we have to be able to trace everyone who uses the facility; no drop-in admissions are allowed.  The pass and punch card will help us achieve all three.

You will have to make a reservation by registering for a specific time slot for your fitness center use, land or water exercise class, lap swim, wellness pool use, and pickle ball.  There are time limits for each.  At the conclusion of each session, staff will ask all users to leave the facility so we can close for 30 minutes and clean and prepare to open for the next group.  You will only be able to register for a time slot if you have the pass or punch card.

  • Fitness center – 1.5 hour

  • Pickleball – 1.5 hour

  • Land or water exercise class – 1 hour

  • Lap swim – 1 hour

  • Wellness pool – 1 hour

To reserve your spot, you can visit our website and register for the time slot you would like.  Search keyword “ARCFit” for fitness center, “ARCEX” for land or water exercise classes, "YOUTHEX" for youth exercise classes, “ARCLap” for lap swim, “ARCwarm” for the wellness pool to find all the available time slots, and “ARCpickle” for pickleball.  New time slots will be open for registrations at 10 am each day for up to 4 days in advance.  You will only be able to register for a time slot if you have the “All-In” Pass or the punch card.  Registration for admissions is limited to Park District residents only.

How do I get into ARC on the day I have registered?

Entry and exit will be through main front doors.  Please do not arrive until 10 minutes prior to your session.  Admission will not be allowed until the staff have completed the cleaning from the previous session.  You will be asked to wait outside the entry area, maintaining 6ft of distance from others.  Please come ready to exercise or swim.  Locker rooms are open, but we have to space locker and shower use out to every 6 ft.  You will see signs indicating what is open and what is closed.  It is recommended that patrons come to the facility dressed and ready to participate, and shower at home, when possible.

Upon entry the staff will have a printed roster for the session, please show you card with your name.  Staff will check off your name to the matching name on the list.  Only cards with pictures, and names will be allowed admissions.  If you need an updated card, please visit ARC, Monday – Friday 8:30 am to 4:30 pm.
