The Arlington Heights Park District has received the Certificate of Achievement for Excellence in Financial Reporting for its comprehensive annual financial report CAFR) produced by the District's finance department. The Certificate of Achievement is the highest form of recognition in the area of governmental accounting and financial reporting presented by the Government Finance Officers Association of the United States and Canada (GFOA).
In a March 6, 2012 news release issued by the GFOA, the attainment of the Certificate of Achievement “represents a significant accomplishment by a government and its management.” The news release further announced that “an Award of Financial Reporting Achievement has been awarded to the individual(s), department or agency designated by the government as primarily responsible for preparing the award-winning CAFR.” This award has been presented to Donna L. Wilson, the Park District’s Director of Finance and Personnel.
The CAFR is judged by an impartial panel to meet the high standards of the program including demonstrating a constructive “spirit of full disclosure” to clearly communicate its financial sotry and motivate potential users and user groups to read the CAFR.
The GFOA is a nonprofit professional association serving approximately 17,500 government finance professionals with offices in Chicago, IL and Washington, D.C.
