Game Day despite Rain Delay

Yesterday, the first games were played at Melas Park on the new synthetic turf. Despite the threatening weather players remained in high spirits as they were eager to dig their cleats into the new surface. Positive feedback was received by a number of athletes. Comments of safety, and nice work were made. One player shared, “Now there are true hops, no more bad ones where we will get hit in the face.” Athletic Supervisors Brien Halterman and John Robinson came to show their support along with Mike Rink of Corporate Construction. The Arlington Heights Park District is excited to finish this capital improvement project for their users. Next week will mark the beginning of more construction at Melas Park. By spring 2013 Arlington Heights will be ready to play ball on four synthetic turf infields. Please check out a slideshow of the building progression. More photos and interviews will come soon.
