The Arlington Heights Park District are keepers of the parks for future generations. We promote sound policies, procedures, and practices. We have an Environmental Policy and an Envirogroup task force of employees who promote our goal.

Staff across the Park District have formed an environmental team, "Enviro Group" to help promote and encourage sustainable practices as well.  Their mission: "To help set a high standard of leadership and competency in the promotion and incorporation of sound environmental practices and lifestyles."

Recent Successes

April 2016 Electronics Recycling Event netted 1,400+ pounds of electronics!

Winter 2016 Shoes & Food Drive proceeds went to local food pantries and Share Your Soles non-profit organization!

Make A Difference Day 2017 gifted suitcases to Journeys, Children's Home & Aid and the Lawrence Hall Foundation!

There have been other projects such as creating butterfly gardens, restoring the shore at Lake Terramere, and removing invasive plants at Lake Arlington. These and other projects will be offered again! To find out how YOU can get involved, contact us at: Environmental@ahpd.org

Park Beautification Program

Do you want to make a difference and help beautify a park? This is an excellent way for individuals or organizations to get involved with their local park and do a good thing for the community at the same time! Projects can include gardening, parks and grounds maintenance or any original suggestion from YOU! The Parks Department will supply all necessary equipment (gloves, rakes, bags) and instruction to help you with your project.
