Picnic in the Park to Kick Off the Summer at North School Park

Annual tradition being held at a new time and features new activity!

The Arlington Heights Park District’s annual Picnic in the Park event is the official kick off to the summer season.  This year, Picnic in the Park will be held on Friday, June 5th from 4:30pm to 7:30pm.  The Park District is also celebrating its 90th anniversary and the entire community is invited to the party!  The new 4:30pm – 7:30pm time is great for families to enjoy lots of family- friendly fun, and the best part of it all is that it’s free!  Moonwalks, face painting, and an appearance from the Arlington Heights Memorial Library’s Book Mobile are just a few of the activities planned for your enjoyment.  New this year, kids of all ages can test their skill with micro-reality stock car racing.
Picnic in the Park is sponsored by The Peoples’ Bank of Arlington Heights, All About Kids Dentistry and Northwest Community Healthcare.  Activities, music, and giveaways are just the beginning to this picnic. Sponsors will be on-site greeting visitors and handing out fun freebies.  You can also stop by the Park District’s Information Booth to collect a variety of cool promotional items.
Enjoy can’t miss entertainment starting at 4:30pm – 5:30pm with Jeanie B and the Jellybeans, followed by Ac-Rock from 6:00pm – 7:30pm.  Jeanie B and the Jellybeans will get both kids and adults singing and dancing along.   Ac-Rock will perform favorite classic rock hits.  These four fun guys sing the doo-wop standards audiences expect and more recent rock hits you might not expect to be performed a cappella. Their shows are an engaging mix of tightly-crafted music and freewheeling humor that appeals to audiences of all ages.
So grab your friends and family to enjoy a great evening.  A selection of food trucks will be on-site offering plenty of yummy dinner options for kids and adults.
