Outdoor Pool 2021 FAQ

We are still following the same guidance we were under last summer in Phase 4.  There has been no change as of March 2021 in aquatic guidance.  If guidance changes, we will evolve.

Is ARC open?  Yes, ARC is open.  ARC swimming pools will be closed for annual maintenance August 23 through September 6.

What are the group size limits?  We are planning on the assumptions that current Phase 4 guidance will remain in effect and groups will be limited 50.  If guidance changes and allows for larger groups we will expand our group limits.

How long are the swim sessions?  For open swim there will be 1:15 hour swim sessions.   Lap swim will be one-hour long.  There is a half hour in-between each session for cleaning.  If guidance changes and allows for larger groups we will extend time to 2 hours for open swim at some locations, not all.

How are reservations being handled?  We will be using the same reservation system as summer 2020.  Memberships or punch cards will be required to make the on-line reservations.  There will be no cash admissions.  Reservations can be made 3 days in advance.

Can I walk-up for admission?  Member walk-ups will be allowed admission if they have a valid membership and there is space.  Walk-ups will be allowed entry after the first 10 minutes of a session.

Will there be any summer swim programming?  There will be an increase in programming at the pools.  ARC will host the majority of summer swim lessons.  Programming at ARC is not impacted by the weather.  There will be opportunity for outdoor swim lessons, interpark swim team, and only Arlington Heights Park District day camps will be utilizing the pools.

Is there water exercise planned for the summer?  There will be water exercise at Recreation Pool, and ARC.  Memberships work for water exercise, punch cards do not.

What else may I like to know?

  • There will be no deck furniture available.  You can bring your own.
  • There will be no concessions.  You can bring your own.  Please, no glass containers on the pool deck.  Bare feet and broken glass do not mix.
  • The wading pools will be closed.  The zero depth areas at Camelot, Frontier, Heritage, Pioneer, and ARC serve that need.

When do schools go back in August?  High School District 214 begins school on August 11, 2021.  School District 25 begins school on August 19, 2021.

ARC Considerations
