Updated January 18, 2021, 4:10 pm
We learned this afternoon, January 18, that Region 10 was moved to Tier 2. This will allow a return to in-person programming, indoor fitness classes, and expanded activity sessions at ARC and the Tennis Clubs. We will have a detailed operational plan of how we will proceed by end of business on Tuesday, January 19.
Our current operational plan outlined below remains in effect. The situation remains fluid and we will continue to provide updates as they develop.
Golf Operations: Arlington Lakes Golf Club, Nickol Knoll Golf Club, and Sunset Meadows Driving Range are closed for the season as of November 29, 2020.
Facilities and Historical Museum – Community Centers and the Historical Museum are currently on an adaptive pause and will be reevaluated as mitigation guidelines are updated. These facilities are closed for programming at this time.
Tennis Clubs - Tennis Clubs are open for private lessons only and singles play by member reservations only. The fitness center at Forest View will be open for posted hours and will require a reservation. Masks will be required at all times for tennis and fitness activities while in the facility. Please view the entire update at www.ahpd.org/tennis/. Please call the clubs for more information.
Outdoor Tennis/Pickleball Courts – Are open with restrictions and depending on the weather. Playing singles is preferred, but not required.
AHPD Programs – Programs are on an adaptive pause until further notice. The District will continue offering programs virtually when able (i.e. dance classes). Supervisors will be communicating with participants on the status of classes and if a household credit needs to be issued.
Arlington Heights Senior Center – The Arlington Athletic Club in the Senior Center is open for members with reservations. All other Senior Center programming, including Fun & Fit Fitness Classes, are on an adaptive pause. For information, call the Arlington Heights Park District Senior Center desk at 847-797-5341.
Children At Play (CAP) – Children at Play will resume when our area school districts are able to return to the traditional in-person learning schedule. In the interim, CAP PLUS is being offered while students are in remote & hybrid learning formats. During this recreational based program, students have time to log-in to their eLearning and will have opportunities to do crafts, play games, and finish homework assignments. You can learn more information about CAP PLUS at 847-577-3000.
Indoor Gyms – Indoor gyms at Camelot and Pioneer will have individual basketball sessions for one-person per hoop, age 11 and over. Sessions are 45 minutes long. Face coverings are required. Reservations are required. Search “shoot-around” in our registration system to make your reservation. Indoor gyms at Frontier and Recreation are closed. Indoor gyms at ARC are in use by fitness.
Preschool – Preschool classes will continue to meet in-person following all guidelines outlined by IDPH, the DCEO, and ISBE.
Camelot Track – Will be open limited hours. Reservations are required. Face coverings are required while using the track.
Canine Commons Dog Park – Canine Commons is open. Please wear a face covering at all times. See dog park guidelines: www.ahpd.org/facilities/canine-commons/.
Arlington Ridge Center (ARC) – ARC is open for fitness center, track use, lap swimming, and wellness pool use. We have to pause group classes for both land and water exercise. We are offering open work out sessions in the gym to mirror the times of some of our most popular group classes. These are times when the bikes, rowers, and weights are available for individual use. There are group size limits to all activity sessions. Face coverings must be worn at all times, including while engaged in individual exercise regardless of person or machine spacing. Please click here for all the changes at ARC. All current ARC memberships have been reactivated. Members have been communicated with several times in September and October about how to freeze or cancel their memberships. As we evolve and update our plans we will share them with the community through our social media channels and website at www.ahpd.org/arc/ and Follow us: On Facebook @ARLINGTONRIDGECENTER; On Twitter and Instagram @arc_ahpd. Guest Services staff are available for in-person registration at Arlington Ridge Center Monday – Friday 5:30 am to 9 pm, and Saturday and Sunday 7:30 am to 3 pm. They may also be reached by phone at 847-577-3025.
Parks and Lake Arlington – All parks are open to take a walk, jog or run. Playgrounds are open. The Lake is currently open for biking, running, walking, fishing and privately owned boats with a lake sticker. The fitness area is also open.
The Park District Board of Commissioners reserves the right to close any park properties at any time, should it become necessary.
Park Shelter and Facility Rentals – We are not accepting rentals at this time.
We are in this together and everyone needs to do their part by complying with the Governor’s order. On behalf of the Board of Park Commissioners, and Staff, thank you for your patience and understanding. Be well and please stay informed by visiting www.ahpd.org/coronavirus/. We also encourage everyone to follow us on social media: Facebook, Twitter and Instagram.
