The Arlington Heights Park District (AHPD) is a public park and recreation agency located in Arlington Heights, Illinois, the largest community in Chicago's prestigious northwest suburban corridor, only 25 miles from business and entertainment in downtown Chicago. Our mission is to offer the community a variety of fitness and recreation opportunities for people of all ages and abilities. We operate five community centers with outdoor pools, the Arlington Ridge Center (ARC), two tennis clubs, two public golf clubs, Lake Arlington, Arlington Heights Historical Museum, Senior Center, an outdoor skate park and 58 parks including a sports complex, playgrounds, picnic shelters and much more spread over 715 acres of land and 16.2 square miles.
The Park District produces and facilitates programs throughout the Village of Arlington Heights and small portions of Palatine, Mt. Prospect, Prospect Heights, and Rolling Meadows. Intergovernmental Agreements between the Arlington Heights Park District and other agencies allow us to extend reciprocal benefits to many surrounding communities. View our friends and affiliates page to learn about other local agencies that may be of use to you.
With a current population of 78,549, Arlington Heights was recently named as one of the Top 100 U.S. Cities to live by Newsweek Magazine and in June 2020 it was ranked #25 by Smartasset as one of the Most Livable Small Cities in the U.S.
The Arlington Heights Park District enriches the community by providing quality recreation, facilities and fun.
