Board of Commissioners

The Arlington Heights Park District is a separate governing unit which levies its own tax to provide park facilities and recreation for the residents of the district. Innovative leadership starts with our community-elected, five member Board of Commissioners. Members of the Board of Commissioners are elected to four-year terms and serve without compensation.

Nomination petitions are now available for the Park Board for the Arlington Heights Park District. Three (3) Commissioners will be elected to a four-year term for the Arlington Heights Park Board in the 2025 consolidated election. Candidate packets are available at the Park District Administration Center located at 410 N. Arlington Heights Rd., Arlington Heights. Please contact Kathy Lydon at 847.577.3007 to make an appointment for pick up. Hours to file completed petitions with the Park District Secretary are November 12, 8:30AM-5:00PM; November 13 through November 15,  8:30AM-4:30PM; and November 18, 8:30AM-5:00PM.

Maryfran H. Leno

Maryfran H. Leno, President

Term: 2021-2025

Maryfran H. Leno is serving her fifth four-year term on the Arlington Heights Park District Board. She is a life-long resident of Arlington Heights. Maryfran has five children and is a dedicated member of St. James School and Parish. Maryfran is Executive Director of the Itasca Park District and an active member of the following organizations: Illinois Association of Park Districts (IAPD), Illinois Park & Recreation Association (IPRA), Suburban Park and Recreation Association (SPRA), National Recreation and Park Association (NRPA) and others.


Timothy Gelinas

Timothy Gelinas, Vice President

Term: 2021-2025

Tim Gelinas is a resident of the Recreation Park neighborhood. Tim and his wife and children are very active with many of the Park District programs. Tim has a Bachelor of Science degree in Business Administration and Economics from St Mary’s College of California. Professionally, Tim is employed by a world leader in the production, processing, and distribution of construction products.


Brian Owen

Brian Owen

Term: 2023-2027

Brian Owen lives in the Pioneer Park area with his wife, Gena, and their two kids, Jake and Abbey. Throughout the years, his family has used many of the Park District’s services, including CAP, dance, golf, swimming, Aces travel soccer, and baseball. Brian has served for the past five years on the Arlington Lakes Golf Advisory Committee and is currently serving as a member of the Arlington Heights Park Foundation.

Professionally, Brian is the President of BJO Wealth Management LLC. He has a Bachelor of Science in Business with a concentration in Finance from Eastern Illinois University and a MBA in Investment Management from DePaul University.


Robert Nesvacil

Robert Nesvacil

Term: 2023-2027

Robert Nesvacil lives in the Pioneer Park area with his wife Carol, daughter Clara Rose, and sons Zachary and Joshua. Rob is a marketing professional and a graduate of the University of Illinois/Champaign. He enjoys backyard organic vegetable and perennial gardening and volunteers with Westgate Cub Scout Pack 130. Rob has served as a member of the Park Foundation and also served on the Drive to Revive Memorial Park Committee.

“I believe we have a wonderful Park District – with a wide variety of recreation activities and park settings. My goal as commissioner is to continue improving our strong history by working with park users and staff to keep the District at its best in a cost-efficient manner,” Nesvacil said.


John Supplitt

John Supplitt

Term: 2023-2025

John Supplitt and his wife Kathy have lived in Arlington Heights in the Pioneer Park Region for over 30 years. They have 4 adult children with 25+ years combined experience as AHPD employees and John has been actively engaged in AHPD programs and services for three decades. John brings vast experience in public service as a past member and treasurer of the Arlington Heights Memorial Library Board of Trustees. John earned a B.S. from Georgetown University, Washington, DC; M.P.A. from New York University Wagner School of Public Service and an M.B.A. from the Loyola University Quinlan School of Business. John is a senior director at the American Hospital Association where he is the rural health services subject matter expert and national account executive for rural hospitals and health systems.
