School Programs
The Museum offers a variety of school programs for ages ranging from Pre-K to 4th grade. These programs are designed to be fun, interactive and meet Illinois Learning Standards.
School programs can be booked Monday through Friday 9AM-3PM. Please schedule at least four weeks in advance. A minimum of 1 adult per 10 students is required. Please arrive promptly, program times are scheduled for the length of material presented and if you arrive late, the program may run late. Payment is due in full upon arrival to your school program. Cash, credit, or checks payable to Arlington Heights Park District are all accepted. To cancel a program, teachers should call 847-225-1225 to reschedule the program based on availability. Please allow a 48-hour notice.
Grades PreK-1 | April-August | 1.5 hour program | $8/student
Illinois Learning Standards: SS.K-2.IS.5-7, K-PS3-1, K-LS1-1, K-ESS2-1-2, K-ESS3-1, 1-LS1-1-2, 1-LS3-1, 1-ESS1-2
Using the framework of Beatrix Potter’s Peter Rabbit, students will explore nature and develop their senses while exploring the museum grounds. Topics discussed include animals, gardens, insects, plants and plant germination.

Illinois Learning Standards: SS.K-2.IS.5-7, K-PS3-1, K-LS1-1, K-ESS2-1-2, K-ESS3-1, 1-LS1-1-2, 1-LS3-1, 1-ESS1-2
Using the framework of Linda Glaser’s It’s Fall, students will explore nature and develop their senses while exploring the museum grounds. Topics discussed include seasons, animal migration, insects, trees and leaves, and the five senses.

By visiting the log house and participating in old fashioned chores and games, students will compare and contrast their modern day lives to those of pioneer children. Activities will include a Schoolhouse lesson, pioneer chores and games.

Through a series of stories, hands-on activities and visits to our historical buildings, students will become familiar with the reality of the first Thanksgiving, how it has evolved into our modern day traditions and the process of the harvest. Topics discussed include Thanksgiving, farming/harvesting, Wampanoag language/culture and traditions over time.
Grades 2-4 | Year around | 2 hour program | $8/student

Illinois Learning Standards: 2-PS1-1-2, 3-PS2-2, 4-LS1-2
Students become scientist as they participate in multi-sensory, hands-on experiments that relate to the properties of soda pop and learn the history behind the Arlington Club Beverage company with a tour of the buildings where it all started. Topics discussed include hypotheses, density, carbonation, and the 5 senses.

Students will take guided tours through the Coach House, 1830’s Log House, 1882 Muller House, and the 1908 Banta House. Hands on encounters with objects will take place along the way, drawing connections between the past and the present.
Scout Programs
The Museum is available to help you and your scouts with badge requirements. Browse our current programs below.
Scout programs can be booked Monday through Friday with start times at 4PM, 4:30PM, 5PM and 5:30PM. Please schedule at least four weeks in advance. A minimum of 1 adult per 5 scouts in required. Payment is due in full upon arrival to your scout program. Cash, credit, or checks payable to Arlington Heights Park District are all accepted. A waiver must be completed and signed by a parent/guardian for each participant.
To cancel a program, leaders should call 847-225-1225 to reschedule the program based on availability. A $25 cancellation fee will apply if cancellation request is received less than two weeks prior to the start of your scheduled program.
