Built on 56 acres, there are three holes featuring vertical drop tee shots and three holes boasting uphill shots to the green. Famous Chicago Bear Walter Payton used this site for his daily exercise routine hence the aptly named, “Paytons Hill” on the 3rd tee! On a clear day you can see the Chicago skyline! The path encompasses the golf course and the park.

Payton Hill
In preparation for many of Walter’s thirteen hall of fame seasons he trained at what is now dubbed “Payton’s Hill.” The hill, previously a part of the Arlington Heights land fill that the golf course replaced, often forced Walter to dodge trash and small tree and shrub growth on his way up and down the hill. Payton’s Hill, now a part of Nickol Knoll golf club, was dedicated in 2000 by the Park District to honor Walter and his accomplishments.
While some of Walter’s records have been broken, including the NFL career rushing record by Emmitt Smith and the single game rushing record multiple times, Walter is still considered one of the best running backs of all time and will have his place in the hearts of Bear fans!
