Karate
The Arlington Heights Park District offers two different Karate Programs:
The Illinois Shotokan Karate Programs stress the development of:
- cardiovascular fitness
- coordination
- strength
- karate skills
- personal safety skills
- self-defense skills at appropriate levels
The Kid's Karate Club and Safety Time Programs
- Revolve around family involvement and stresses respect.
- Parents may attend class with their child by signing up for the Parent Helper Program.
These are two distinctively different programs. Programs cover ages 4 through adults.
Both programs are motivational and encourage participants to do their best in all activities, including school and other sports.
Class Levels and Association of Color of Belts differ with each program, as well as ages, class fees, and other associated fees with each program.
