The Centers, Aquatics, Athletics and Lake Arlington Facilities provide a variety of programs at the five community centers, Melas Park and sailing programs at Lake Arlington. The Superintendent of Recreation Facilities oversees operations of this division and works with the other department managers in a cooperative effort to maximize the efficiency of the Recreation and Facility Department.
Centers
The Park District operates five community centers at Camelot, Frontier, Heritage, Pioneer, and Recreation Parks. Large District-wide programs, supervised by one of the recreation supervisors include dog obedience, gymnastics, karate, yoga, and garden plots. The supervisors also run general programs, special events, and one-day workshops.

Aquatics
Aquatic programs feature a comprehensive swim lesson program for infants as young as six months through adults; Interpark swim team competition; competitive swim teams; basic rescue and advanced lifesaving courses; water exercise programs; programs for older adult swimmers; and programs for disabled swimmers.
These programs are offered at the five outdoor pool complexes at Camelot, Frontier, Heritage, Pioneer, and Recreation Park and Arlington Ridge Center (ARC). The five outdoor pool complexes are open during the summer (Memorial Day – Labor Day). The ARC provides a year-round comprehensive swim program for all ages, along with public swim times.

Athletics
Athletic programs include coordination of men’s, women’s and co-ed softball leagues, house and travel soccer, tee ball and rookie ball, volleyball and men's and youth basketball leagues, summer sports camps, and special events.

Lake Arlington
Lake Arlington features a two-mile bike and walking path, boat dock, nature/conservation area, picnic areas, accessible playground, sensory garden, outdoor fitness area, boat launch area, Fishing pier, observation deck, and a seasonal snack bar operation. Paddleboat and sailboat rentals are also available on a seasonal basis. Programs and/or camps for youths and adults are offered in sailing, climbing, canoeing, and fishing.
