The Finance and Personnel Department establishes and maintains a system of strong financial controls, general and human resources information for the Park District, and provides administrative and operational support to other departments. Finance and Personnel is responsible for management of the Park District’s financial assets and investments, as well as overseeing human resources, risk management, accounts payable, fixed assets, and management of information systems. The department prepares the annual operating budget, the capital improvement plan, and the annual comprehensive annual financial report (CAFR).
The Finance and Personnel Department’s dedication to serving the needs of our customers by providing superior and responsive governmental services and its commitment to excellence has been recognized nationally. The Government Finance Officers Association has presented the department with the Distinguished Budget Award for 14 years and the Certificate of Achievement for Excellence in Financial Reporting for more than 29 consecutive years.
The primary mission of the Finance and Personnel Department is to preserve the financial integrity of the Park District, while assuring the availability of funds to accomplish its goals. The Park District is on a May 1 - April 30 fiscal year. With a staff of 16 employees, financial responsibilities include budgeting, accounts payable, payroll, investment management, debt management, District and capital assessment management, and overseeing a budget of more than $26 million.
