February is American Heart Month, a time to focus on habits that support a strong and healthy heart. Regular physical activity and social connection are all key components of heart health—and the Arlington Heights Park District offers a wide variety of ways for residents of all ages and abilities to stay active and engaged year-round.

Memberships at the Arlington Ridge Center (ARC) provide access to state-of-the-art fitness amenities designed to support cardiovascular health. From cardio equipment and lap swimming to group exercise classes and indoor walking opportunities, the ARC makes it easy to build heart-healthy routines no matter the season. Drop-in pickleball and pickleball classes are also available and a fun, social way to improve overall cardiovascular fitness. Whether you’re just starting your wellness journey or maintaining an active lifestyle, the ARC offers opportunities to meet your goals.

For those who enjoy racquet sports, AHPD’s Tennis Clubs offer another fun and effective way to keep your heart pumping. Tennis is a great cardiovascular workout that also improves coordination, balance and endurance. With leagues, lessons and court time available, players can stay active while enjoying the social benefits that come with friendly competition and activity.

Heart health is important at every stage of life and programming at the Senior Center supports both physical and emotional well-being. From fitness classes and movement programs to social activities and educational opportunities, the Senior Center encourages adults to stay active, connected and engaged—key factors in maintaining a healthy heart and overall quality of life.
