The Arlington Heights Historical Museum invites the community to celebrate the opening of a remarkable new exhibit—Stars & Stories: Arlington Heights’s Old Glory—on Friday, June 26 from 6-8PM, featuring a historic American flag with deep roots in Arlington Heights history.

After spending decades out of public view, this treasured flag has undergone expert conservation and will once again be displayed for the community to experience and appreciate. The exhibit tells the fascinating story of the flag’s journey from 1860s Dunton—the settlement that would later become Arlington Heights—to its return to public display today.
Visitors will have the opportunity to explore the flag’s history, learn about the meticulous conservation process that preserved it for future generations and discover the local stories woven into every stitch of this enduring symbol of American spirit and resilience. “This flag is more than a piece of fabric—it is a tangible connection to the people who helped build our community and the values they carried with them,” said Jeff Anderson, Museum Director. “We are honored to share this extraordinary artifact with the public once again and to tell the story of its journey from early Dunton to Arlington Heights today.”
The exhibit opening is free and open to the public. Community members are invited to be among the first to experience this unique exhibit and learn how careful conservation efforts can continue to inspire and educate generations to come.
