Ice Rinks & Sled Hills

2023-24 Condition Report

The Park District makes ice between December 15 and February 15- weather permitting. The Park District does not utilize refrigerant coils for establishing ice rinks. Making ice requires a prolonged period of time when both the daytime and evening temperatures remain below 22° with several inches of frost in the ground.

Arlington Heights Park District prohibits ice skating on any pond or lake.  The constant flow of water does not allow them to freeze solid enough for skaters.

Thank you.

Sled hills will be inspected after all facilities and parking lots are cleared of snow.  Sled hills will be open when adequate snow cover will allow for safe sledding.

Sledding is only allowed in designated areas where sled hill rules signage is posted.  Areas posted with signs prohibiting sledding are not scheduled for inspections.
