Policies & Procedures

Resident registration enables Arlington Heights Park District residents to register for Park District classes. Online registration is convenient and eliminates long lines, longer waiting, and frustration. Non-residents mailing in their registration forms during early registration will be held until non-resident registration begins. At that time, they will be accepted into any classes with openings. To qualify for resident fees, an individual must reside within the boundaries of the Arlington Heights Park District.

Park District Residents

To qualify for resident fees, an individual must reside within the boundaries of the Arlington Heights Park District. The Recreation Department may waive the residency requirement for a program if it is considered in the best interest of the Park District.

If you live in these areas, please use the non-resident information when registering for classes. For additional information on which Park District you belong to, please consult your tax bill.

Non-Residents

Because residents contribute to the overall financing of the Park District with their property taxes, they pay a lower fee for classes. Non-residents may register for recreation programs; however residents receive admission priority to all programs. The non-resident rate is listed under the program description as the second fee indicated as "NR".

Age Requirement

When a class lists a minimum age, your child must be that age when the program begins. Contact the class supervisor if you have any questions.

Classes on Religious Holidays

Within a program session, classes may fall on a day that residents honor as a religious holiday. In an effort to be sensitive to all religions, class participants may:

  • Make up the class missed, if space exists or
  • Have the fee pro-rated to reflect the day that must be missed.

Your program supervisor will be happy to assist you with either option.

Waiver Required

For insurance purposes, a signed waiver is required for all programs. In person/Mail in registrants, please sign the waiver on the registration form. Online registrants must agree to the waiver on our website prior to enrolling. Patrons will not be able to participate in programs if the waiver is not signed and a refund will not be granted.

Cancellation Policy

If your class is cancelled, you will be notified and offered an alternate choice, if one is available. Classes may be cancelled due to low enrollment or instructor availability. The Park District occasionally must cancel, postpone, combine classes or change instructors as needed.

Photo Policy

Photos and videos are periodically taken of people participating in Park District program and activities. All persons registering for Park District programs/activities, or using Park District property thereby agrees that any photograph or videotape taken by the Park District may be used by the Park District for promotional purposes including its electronic media, videotapes, brochures, flyers and other publications without additional, prior notice or permission and without compensation to the participant.

Waiting List

Your name will be placed on a waiting list. You will be contacted in the event that a space opens for that activity or additional activities are added. If you are moved from the waiting list into an activity, payment will be required at that time. If you do not want to be placed on the waiting list, click the Remove button that appears on the Shopping Cart screen.*Please Note: It is recommended for guaranteed participation to choose a secondary activity option with openings.
